New Generation Music Festival in Omaha, Nebraska on August 5, 2016.
The maiden launch of the New Generation Music Festival took place Friday afternoon August 5, 2016 at Stinson Park in Aksarben Village, Omaha NE. This new summer festival showcased live music from local and regional musicians, works from several talented local artists and rounding out the event many local food/beverage vendors and independent businesses providing the full festival experience.
The family-friendly one day event was brought to you by The New Generation Music Group, The Raleigh Science Project and JADC Productions. Mark Patrick, Marcey Yates, and Jamison Denton-Carter have said they began this festival to bring like-minded artists and businesses together in hopes to expand the city’s music scene.
Music rang out from both ends of the park Friday, from the shell to the geo-dome built on the opposite end. Acoustic, rap and R&B performers rotated through the geo dome where listeners were provided an intimate experience. Across the grounds at the shell, full bands worked their way through the afternoon into the evening where any seat, whether in front of the stage or in front of the surrounding vendor tents and trucks was still a great seat.
Spending the day at the event made me realize how much incredible talent there is in our little area of the world. It was an exceptional experience with such a wide variety of music genres and each one delivering a truly great performance, despite attendance on the low side. Hopefully music fans in Omaha will get into the groove and show more support next year for the 2nd annual New Generation Music Festival. I was able to catch the talent of Dominique Morgan, Rothsteen, J. Crum & ALTR, Omaha, Clark & Co., Jocelyn, TKO, Mola-B, Greco, Jamison Denton-Carter, Chemicals, The Dilla Kids, The Hottman Sisters, AZP, Through The Stone and ending the night with their high-energy show, headliners Screaming For Silence. Make sure to watch for these names and support your city’s talent.
